Financial Controller

The Financial Controller has a mix of strategy and traditional responsibilities overseeing all aspects of accounting and finance within Dakow Ventures Ltd. This includes preparing budgets and forecasts, implementing financial policies, and performing financial risk assessments to ensure compliance and maintain/improve organizational financial standing. The Controller is also responsible for producing periodic financial reports, and maintenance of an adequate system of

accounting records and budgets. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring consistent corporate financial strategy through a range of avenues such as managing and allocating accounts, financial statements, and tax data. The candidate will also be the point of contact for banks, auditors, and tax authorities.


  • Manage day-to-day company accounts
  • Assist with financial planning
  • Oversee Budget forecasting and cash flow management
  • Ensure government compliance in all tasks


  • CPA or comparable accounting designation with a minimum of 5+ related years of professional experience.
  • Sound knowledge of accounting and IT software
  • The capability of managing financial reporting requirements and designing relevant reports for management
  • Experience managing and mentoring an accounting team
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated, well-organized, and with a high level of initiative
  • Proficiency with current financial software
  • Understanding of US GAAP
  • Oversee processes ensuring the integrity of accounting data.
  • Effectively communicate and collaborate with the leadership team.
  • Develop the budget process and prepare the budget.
  • Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting with variance and corrective actions.
  • Maintain, monitor, and enforce internal controls; make recommendations for improvement.
  • Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations.
  • Act as a liaison with external accountants for review engagement.
  • Comply with local, provincial, and federal government reporting requirements and GST/HST, PST, EHT, WCB, T4 and T4A tax filings.
